Have you finally decided you want a new piercing in Karachi? If yes, then you probably spent a long time scrolling through reference photos and debating on which body piercing to get. Aside from researching jewellery placements, knowing what to do and what to avoid 24 hours before your appointment is just as important. Yet almost nobody talks about the preparation you need before getting pierced. But at Galima Professional Piercing and Aftercare, we value our clients, and that’s why we gathered this information for you.

When it comes to body piercing appointments, many factors determine how your experience goes. At our studio, we have often seen people who visit us underprepared. When getting pierced, they feel like they’re about to faint or they have a rough healing journey afterwards.

All of these troubles are avoidable and here’s how.

Eat Before You Go for a Piercing Appointment

This is the one that gets ignored the most and causes the most problems. Your blood sugar being low when you get a piercing is a recipe for feeling dizzy, lightheaded, and it happens to people who have never fainted before in their lives. When getting pierced, it takes seconds for you to recover from the pain. But your body is still registering it as a stress event and an empty stomach makes your body’s response feel worse because it has less energy to handle it.

Eat a proper meal, maybe an hour before. Something with actual substance, protein, carbs, real food. Even a chai and a biscuit grabbed on the way out is fine when you’re on a time crunch. If you’ve eaten well, you’ll be fine. If you haven’t, you can expect some feeling of weakness but it’s just a possibility.

Why take so much trouble when eating light can help you avoid getting into this situation?

Be Mindful of What You Wear for a Body Piercing Appointment

For a nose or ear piercing, this is less of a thing, but for belly piercings, wrist dermal piercings, surface piercings, think about what’s going to be pressing on that area when you leave.

A tight high-waisted jean or a thick pair of trousers that ends on your navel is a no-no when you’re getting a belly piercing. Likewise, embroidered suits, especially with tassels or anything of that sort, are the worst.

These will just cause friction and pressure on a fresh wound the whole way home. And the threads will repeatedly get stuck and often badly enough that the jewellery accidentally gets snagged.

Wear something loose and comfortable that you don’t have to think about. You want the pierced area to have room and you want to not be fussing with your clothes the entire journey back.

No Alcohol or Painkillers Before Your Piercing

Alcohol thins your blood and so does ibuprofen and aspirin, things people take without a second thought. If you took ibuprofen for a headache or to not feel the pain of getting pierced that morning, you can bleed. The procedure gets scarier and healing starts off on the wrong foot.

If you have a pain in the head, paracetamol is fine. If you’re on prescription blood thinners for an actual medical reason, tell your piercer beforehand. That’s a conversation to have ahead of time, not a detail to leave out and hope for the best.

Bring ID

At Galima Professional Piercing and Aftercare, we ask for parental permission for customers who are under 18. So make sure you bring your ID for us to verify. It takes no time and saves a completely pointless back and forth at the desk. If you’re bringing someone younger, check our policy and aftercare guide in order to sufficiently take care of the area pierced.

Sleep the Night Before

Being tired makes pain feel worse, increases anxiety, and makes the whole experience harder than it needs to be. For most people, it’s the anticipation that causes stress, but when you’re well rested, you feel more relaxed and less worried. Following a proper Aftercare guide also plays a key role in reducing discomfort and ensuring smooth healing. There’s no need to feel anxious, as we perform all body piercings under the safest conditions using only the highest quality materials.

With us, getting pierced takes only a few minutes, but your appointment may take longer. Because our staff also educates about how to take care of the new piercing, what to use and things to avoid.

Don’t Over-Prepare the Skin

Numbing creams, unless your piercer told you to use one, heavy oils, or moisturizers on the area, anywhere near the site. All of these cause more problems than they solve. Cotton balls are also a common thing people use, which might not be the best because they stick to freshly done body piercings. Clean skin is all you need and maybe a bit of emotional support or your bestie.

Ask Your Questions Before Anything

Before the equipment comes anywhere near you, ask some basic questions. What’s the exact placement? What material is the jewelry? What does aftercare look like for this specific piercing? A good piercer answers all these questions comfortably without making you feel like you’re inconveniencing them.

And if the studio doesn’t feel right when you walk in, for instance, if it’s not clean or the quality of what they’re using doesn’t look good, don’t go through with the appointment.

The prep you do at home only gets you so far if the studio itself isn’t up to standard.

Final thought

Coming in prepared doesn’t just make your appointment easier. It’s one of the simplest things you can do to support good healing from day one. Take care of yourself before and after the appointment, and your new body piercing will heal beautifully.

If you aren’t sure where to get the new piercing in Karachi, visit Galima Professional Piercing and Aftercare to see the standard of quality with your own eyes.
